Oval in shape, with embossed and chiseled decoration, representing four knights in military dress supporting by their arms
an openwork basket framed by four sconces embellished with soldiers carrying a shield in one hand and
the other a standard. The whole rests on a base decorated with medallions adorned with profiles in an entourage of foliage arabesques. On the reverse appears a rare decoration of wood marquetry forming a star.
Several lacks, but good condition.
Title mark: 84, Moscow, 1739.
Hallmark of the master goldsmith: Pierre Semenoff, active from 1739 to 1777.
