Römische Kunst, XNUMX. Jahrhundert
A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD PENDANT EARRINGS, comprising a circular convex disc with beaded wire border and central gold granule, attached to a tapering hoop of three twisted wires, two plain and one beaded, supporting a pendant cluster of five hollow gold spheres with granulation. 2nd Century A.D. Eastern Mediterranean. L. 2,8 cm. Tis variant on the Roman disc and hoop earrings is well-known in the Eastern Mediterranean in about the 2nd Century A.D. The form and construction of these probably point to an origin in Asia Minor rather than further East (as compared with the more Eastern form).
