👨🏻‍🎨 Géskel Salomon (1821-1902) was a French artist known for his unique style of ink drawings and paintings. He was born in Marseille and began his artistic career as a lithographer before focusing on drawing with ink. Salomon gained recognition for his intricate and detailed drawings of landscapes, animals, and people, often inspired by his travels to North Africa and the Middle East.

Salomon's ink drawings are particularly admired for their delicate lines and precise details. His art work were often displayed in exhibitions in Paris, and he received numerous awards and honors during his lifetime.

Today, Salomon's works are highly collectible and are featured in many private and public collections around the world. His unique style and technical skill continue to inspire artists and art lovers alike.

👨🏻‍🎨 Discover the world of Charles Henri Cordier (1827-1905), one of the greatest French 19th-century sculptors, known for his pioneering work in producing portrait busts of non-European people.

Initially inspired by the Orientalist movement, particularly Eugène Delacroix’s Eastern subjects, Cordier’s oeuvre increasingly adopted a scientific aspect. He portrayed people from different parts of the world, and fueled his aspiration through his travels.
The ethnographic busts for which he became most famous often betray a startling naturalism, tempered by dramatic poses and exotic costumes. He is further noted for his effective use of colour, both different coloured marbles and extensive silvering and enamelling.
Cordier was also a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and received numerous honors during his lifetime, including the Légion d'honneur in 1861.🏅
