A LATE BYZANTINE GARNET AND GOLD CROSS PENDENT, 6TH-7TH CENTURY A.D.
1,4 x 1,1 X 0,3 in. 5,51grs. The garnet arms of the cross are conical and with same dimensions.
Joined to a central gold frame with granulations and set with a cabochon garnet.
The top of the cross is joined to a gold sheet disc fixed to the arm with a frieze of gold
spheres in the shape of a triangle. On top, a gold platted ring.
Formé de transepts à base conique sculptés dans du grenat et d’égale dimension, assemblés par une structure une boite centrale en or décorée de granulations et sertie en son centre d’une grenat taille cabochon. Le transept supérieur
est relié à un anneau de suspension par un disque d’or décoré d’un fil torsadé et d’une série de sphères en or formant des triangles.
