A ROMAN SILVER NECKLACE WITH LUNULA , 3RD CENTURY A.D.
161/4 in. Length. Composed of a length of double loop-in-loop chain, a leaf-shaped pendant joined to a ring on either side, a gilt medallion
threaded at the joins, embellished with stamped scrolls at the center and framed by a stamped rope pattern, supporting a tapering oval
pendant with seven large granules along the length on each side, five of which are positioned along the tapering lower end, the ribbed suspension
loop framed by granulation.
Composé d’une longue chaine de fils d’argent tressés, agrémenté de deux pendentifs en forme de feuille de
lierre – l’attache par deux anneaux de suspensions en argent est ornée de chaque coté d’un petit disque en or
avec motif de volutes et de tressage. Le pendentif principal figure une lunula (croissant de lune) en argent massif.
