Rectangular in shape, with finely chiselled decoration in trompe-l'oeil imitation representing the wooden boxes of 50 cigars marketed in Russia at the time, by Hermann Upmann. Inside is engraved a dedication in Cyrillic characters: “To the friend of the suffering Theophilus Ignatievich Vdovikovsky from a sincere and grateful patient VV Navrotsky, Odessa, February 28, 1898”. Hinged lid, vermeil interior. Good condition.
