TCHELITCHEFF Pavel Fedorovitch (1898-1957).
Costume project for a female character, performed in an opera staged by Boris Kniazeff for Zimine's ballet company, performed on the stage of the Strelna Cabaret Theater in Constantinople in 1920.
Watercolour, gouache and graphite on paper, signed lower right, kept in a modern natural wood frame. Good condition.

Bowlt under the title: “ Russian Stage Design - Scenic Innovation (1900-1930)", another version of a costume from the same opera, bearing the inscription on the reverse: "Study of a costume from my ballets by Tchelischev, 1920 Constantinople, Boris Kniaziev", page 305. There is even a variant dated 1919 and entitled Turkish Dance.
