A major figure in the late Flemish Baroque and pupil of Pieter I Verbruggen, Jan Claudius de Cock obtained his master's degree in Antwerp in 1688. We find him in Breda in the Netherlands in 1692 where he was commissioned by King William III to decorate the Court princes.
Regularly mentioned in Antwerp, he specializes in small interior marble statuary created for a wealthy clientele.
