Terre-cuite. H. 17,5 cm . Fragmentaire et restaurée.
Art chypro-archaïque II, VIe siècle av. J.-C.
A Cypro-Archaic terracotta male head. The face is characterized by archaic features—large almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and a small, fleshy mouth with a slight smile. The eyebrows are thick and marked by vertical streaks at the level of the heads (the pattern has partially disappeared on the rest of the arch). The forehead is completely covered by a skullcap, probably a pointed hat (partially missing, since the back of the head has disappeared). This physiognomy can be compared to certain portraits of Cypriot warriors from the end of the Archaic period. 6th Century B.C.E.
