Dynastie
A Knew-Kingdom faience glazed funerary pectoral. In the shape of a naos, the decoration presents the god Anubis lying on an embalming bed. He wears the magic knot and the standard around his neck. Dynasty 18th-19th. Pectorals were put around the necf mummies, on the chest, and were usually decorated with images of funerary gods and regenration symbols, as is the case on this specimen. The top of the pectoral is pieced on both the left and right end, to allow attachment of the pectoral to a suspension cord. The combination of Anubis on his shrine with ribbon, scepter and flagellum is commonly found in New-Kingdom tombs on the West Bank of Thebes (i.e Ini-her-khaw tomb, TT299, Chamb. F). For the same without flagellum, see Nefersekheru tomb (TT296, frieze of North Wall of Chamb.A); with flagellum but no scpeter, Pashedu tomb (TT3, entral to the burial chamber) and Sennedjem (TT1, tympanum of West Call), both in Deir-el-Medina.
