A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD PENDANT EARRINGS, with a convex disc with pierced work 'pelta' motifs surrounding a central garnet, the crossbar below supporting four gold wire pendants, each set with diamond-shaped box-setting containing a green glass inlay, the terminals with pearls (some stones missing), the reverse with two cruciform struts supporting the hoop, 3rd Century A.D. Eastern Mediterranean. High. 3,8 cm. A well-know East Roman form of the 3rd Century A.D.; it is best known from the Levant.
